SeeLevel HX is a service provider for mystery shopping and market research.  Mystery shopping can be an interesting way to earn a bit of extra cash.  You browse lists of shopping missions available and apply to perform the shop.  A scheduler reviews the applications and assigns the shops.  Once you’ve been assigned a shop, you confirm your acceptance, read all the instructions, and then off you go!

Service provider company:

SeeLevel HX
www.seelevelhx.com

SeeLevel HX was founded in 2008.  Their headquarters is in Atlanta, Georgia, but they operate in both the USA and Canada.  SeeLevel HX is more than just mystery shopping.  It’s a consolidation of three other companies: Mystery Researchers, Insula Research, and Beyond Hello.

SeeLevel HX focuses on the human experience through business intelligence.  They claim to enhance the customer experience, brand loyalty, and reputation.  They do this through audits, usability assessments, compliance monitoring, and customer feedback.  And they also offer mobile app testing and social media monitoring.

Mystery Shopping Professionals Association (MSPA):

SeeLevel HX is not a member of the MSPA. Although, Insula Research was a member. Insula Research was one of the companies that consolidated into SeeLevel HX.

Better Business Bureau (BBB):

SeeLevel HX was listed with the Better Business Bureau in 2018.  Thus far, they don’t have any reviews nor any complaints registered.

Pay range:

A typical shop with SeeLevel HX pays you $12.00 USD to $25.00 USD.  There are premium shops available but they have very specific criteria.  Plus, you need to prove your reliability and have a great shopper score before you’ll be offered those shops.

Payment method:

SeeLevel HX gives you two options to receive payment: Money Network Debit Card or Pay Pal.  If you live outside of the USA then you probably want to choose payment via Pay Pal.  The Money Network Debit Card is not widely accepted outside of the USA.

Payment frequency:

SeeLevel HX is like most mystery shopping service providers.  They pay the following month for shops you completed in the previous month.  SeeLevel HX pays around the 15th of the month.

For example, if you performed shops in August, then you’ll be paid around the 15th of September.  We have not performed any shops with SeeLevel HX so we cannot confirm their payment schedule.

Report submission:

Every shopping mission requires a report submission.  You need to submit your report before midnight on the day you perform the shop.

Now, that’s plenty of time if you perform your shop first thing in the morning.  However, if your shop is done in the evening, then that’s a very tight timeline.

Website usability:

SeeLevel HX uses the SASSIE platform and so they follow those same standards.

You’ll find your profile section, a job board, and two shopper dashboards.  One dashboard has the applications you’ve submitted (requests to be assigned a shop) and the other has the missions confirmed to be assigned to you.

The job board has filters that allow you to monitor the available shops and also provide a map view of their locations.

Social media:

SeeLevel HX has a presence on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

Shopping mission availability:

SeeLevel HX has a good number of mystery shopping missions available.  However, they do seem to be centred in the USA.  So if you live outside of the USA, then this service provider may not be the best option for you.

As with many of the mystery shops, there are far more available in larger urban areas.  But even in the urban regions, there are not a huge amount of shops. Generally, fewer than 30 available at one time.  So you definitely want to register with multiple providers.

Shopper support:

The schedulers, the people who coordinate the shops, are fairly accessible to you.  They also provide email support and a contact form from their website.

But if you have questions regarding a shopping mission you should contact them before that shop occurs.  It’s unlikely you’ll be able to get questions answered quickly enough if the shop is already in progress.

How does it work?

Registration:

  1. From their website, www.seelevelhx.com, on the left side, click on “SIGN UP” underneath the question, “Interested in becoming a mystery shopper?”
  2. From the new page displayed, click on “NEW SHOPPER SIGN UP”
  3. When the new tab is opened, scroll to the bottom, enter your email address and click “GO”
  4. Fill out the form with the usual details: name, address, and phone number.  But then enter the additional profile information: gender, birthdate, etc.  NOTE: Only those fields with asterisks are mandatory.
  5. You’ll also fill in the area codes of the regions in which you might perform shops.
  6. Finally, there’s a section for SSN/EIN information.  This information is for the USA residents only.
  7. Once submitted, you’ll receive confirmation of acceptance by email.  You must confirm your email before proceeding.
  8. After email confirmation then you’ll have access to the shopper site.  The first thing you should do is complete the extended profile.  That will potentially give you access to more shops.
  9. Once filled out, then the “Extended Shopper Profile” section on the “Shop Log” homepage will display “Current” in green.
  10. Now you can proceed to the “Job Board” to find shops in your area.

Recommendation:

We have not performed any mystery shopping missions for SeeLevel HX as we have not been able to find any shops available in our area.  So our recommendation is based on that:

  1. Shopping mission availability – there aren’t many shops available in our area.  And searching other regions doesn’t present that many options either.
  2. Pay range – the pay range seems to be right about average for mystery shopping
  3. Report submission – we feel the report deadline is rather tight, requiring you to submit it by midnight on the day the shop is performed
  4. Pay method – we are Pay Pal fans so very pleased to see that option included
  5. Pay frequency – they pay the month after you’ve completed your shops and this is pretty standard in the industry
