Rebate range
It’s very difficult to state the rebate range as the site has so many different offers and different means for you to receive a reward. Instead, we’ll list some examples.
GCR has a large selection of credit card offers, more than 40 offers at the moment this post was written. The offers range from $10.00 to $75.00 cash back into your GCR account.
They have other offers for individual retail stores (for example, Old Navy), online shopping sites (such as Amazon and eBay), travel sites (like Expedia), and more. These offers are generally percentage discounts anywhere from 2% to 10%.
Payment method
GCR has a number of different payment options if you live in Canada. You can choose from eGift cards, physical cheque, or PayPal. There are different rules and benefits for each:
- eGift cards – if you choose eGift cards then you are automatically paid out each month if you have the minimum balance required. The minimum balance is different depending on the card you choose and sign-up bonuses do NOT count towards that minimum. What’s interesting with this option is that you also receive a bonus of up to 4% (depending on the card vendor) for the “purchase” of the eGift card. So you get paid to get paid. LIKE!
- Cheque – you have to request to cash out if you choose the cheque option. You must have a minimum of $40.00 CAD in your account but sign-up bonuses DO count towards that minimum.
- PayPal – if you choose PayPal then you are automatically paid out each month but only if you have a minimum balance of $10.00 in your registration country currency. And sign-up bonuses do NOT count towards that minimum amount.
If you live outside of Canada then your only option for payment is PayPal.
Payment frequency
GCR pays out monthly however, there is a waiting period. You’ll need to wait a minimum of 55 days to get your rebates because they need time to track down any returns. But then you’re paid on the business day closest to the 25th of the month.
Website and Mobile App usability
You can use a computer or a mobile device for GCR. They’re available on Windows, iOS, and Android and the app is free to download.
Both the website and the mobile app are a bit busy – there is a LOT of information. But once you adjust to the format you’ll find there are many, many categories of deals to choose from.
If you think you might use PayPal as a cash out option then be certain to register with the same email you use for PayPal.
Social media
GCR has a presence on both Facebook and Twitter.
Offers availability
GCR has a very large number of offers. They are partnered with more than 700 retailers on their site.
Not only do they offer the expected online shopping deals but they also have credit card bonuses and a vast coupon/promo code section. Basically, if you’re considering any kind of purchase or application that could possibly be done online, check GCR first to see if they have any offers.
And there’s a handy Chrome extension to help you remember to do just that.
User support
GCR gives you multiple ways to contact them. You can reach out on social media (Facebook and Twitter) if you have some comments. If you’re missing a rebate or payment or a referral, or you’ve found a broken link on the site, you can use the “Report a Problem” page online. And there’s also a contact page that lists email addresses plus their postal address. We were unable to locate a phone number for contact.
What do you need?
The requirements for GCR are straight forward:
- Internet – you’ll need to be connected to do your shopping
- Device – you can use any device that can connect to the internet
- Software – if you want to use your smartphone you might want to download the free app, otherwise, there is no special software required

- Register with the same email address you use for PayPal (so you can cash out with PayPal if you choose that option)
- Fill out your profile information and select your preferred method of payment (you can change this at any time) and then click the “Register” button
Shopping
- Before you do any online shopping, or fill in any application, or even make a reservation, go to the Great Canadian Rebates site. Browse their list of merchants and partners to see if it’s available through the site. From the primary navigation menu select “GROUPS” and then “All Merchants” or you can simply type the merchant name in the merchant search field above the primary navigation menu.
- If you find what you’re looking for then first login to your account. Plus, you must turn off any ad blockers before clicking on the merchant link to allow the tracking to function.
- Then click on the “Go” link for that merchant. If you found the merchant from the search field then click on the link next to “Shop Now” on their GCR page. If you found them through the “GROUPS” menu then click on “Vendor Page” under their name.
- A new browser tab will open with an interim page. The interim page is a notification from GCR that you’re going to be redirected to the vendor site. It will display a tracking number that will appear in your GCR “Click History” later. The interim page should refresh by itself to the vendor page. If it doesn’t, then you can manually click on the “click here” link at the bottom of the page.
- Now from the vendor site you simply shop as you normally would using their online shopping cart. IMPORTANT: You cannot visit other sites until you complete your transaction or the tracking is lost and you won’t receive a rebate.

Recommendation
GCR is pretty straight forward and we rate it very highly:
- Offers availability – they have a LOT of offers across a lot of categories with more than 700 retailers on their site
- User support – although we couldn’t find a phone number, there are a number of other ways to reach out for support
- Rebate range – there are a wide range of offers but the key factor for us is the lack of effort needed to earn the rebate
- Payment – the payment options are convenient although it would be nice to receive the money faster
- Website/app – the site can be a bit challenging to navigate at first but that’s because it has so much information
