We Check mystery shopping has been in business since 1997. They operate across Canada but also have global coverage through international affiliates. Their head office is located in Nepean, Ontario.
They operate in many sectors including retail, restaurants, call centres, automotive, financial, government, etc.
Mystery Shopping Professionals Association (MSPA)
We Check is a member of the MSPA, associated specifically with MSPA Americas. Member companies with the MSPA follow a code of ethics that ensures consistency across the industry.
Better Business Bureau (BBB)
We Check is accredited with the Better Business Bureau and has been since 2017 (their file with BBB was opened in 2015). Currently, they have a rating of A+.

Pay range
We Check mystery shopping has a variety of shopping mission types and the pay range reflects that. The pay is generally anywhere from $8.00 CAD to $56.00 CAD plus expenses per shopping mission.
Any acceptable shopping expenses would be listed in the instructions before you go on the mission. Examples of expenses: product purchases to evaluate the service, promotional purchases to confirm pricing, occasionally mileage expenses, etc.
Now and then, there are also more premium shopping missions which offer higher rates. However, those missions are generally given to shoppers with proven reliability and quality records. Payment method
We Check only pays through PayPal. To ensure you can receive payment:
- When registering as a mystery shopper, ensure the email used for registration is the same email you use for PayPal
- If you registered with a different email, then be certain to add that email to your PayPal account
Payment frequency
Payment is applied approximately 30 days after the date of the finalised shop. This is the date your shopping mission report was approved (labelled as “RECEIVED” in the “Shop Log” section of their shopper site). In our experience, We Check has been very reliable and payments arrive on time.
Report submission
Shopping mission reports or surveys are entered online from the shopper site and must be submitted within 24 hours of completing your shopping mission. This is critical for the turnaround to the client so if you cannot complete the report within the 24-hour timeline, you should not accept the mission.
Website usability
The shopper site for We Check mystery shopping is straight forward to use. It contains a profile section, a job board, and two shopper dashboards:
- One for applications you’ve submitted – these are your requests to be assigned a shop
- Another for missions confirmed to be assigned to you
The job board has filters that let you monitor available shops and also provide a map view of those shop locations.
Social media
We Check has a Facebook presence and is also on Twitter. They sometimes post interesting upcoming shopping missions to social media before they appear on their website job board.
This is very helpful if you see a particular type of shopping mission you like as then you can monitor the actual job board more closely to snag the shop you want.
Shopping mission availability
The number of shopping missions available will vary depending on where you live. There will be significantly more options available in larger urban areas. For example, in a major urban city like Toronto, there are around 100 shopping missions available on any given day.
Shopper support
The schedulers (basically, your support team) at We Check are pretty accessible via both email and phone. If you have questions about the requirements for a shopping mission or need clarification regarding the follow-up report, the email turnaround time is typically within a couple of hours or better.

How does it work?
Registration
- Go to their website, wecheckservice.com, and from the primary navigation menu click the menu option, “Become a Shopper”
- Scroll down to the bottom of the section, “Step 1 – Registering into Our Online Shopper Database” and click the button, “Register with Us!”
- A new browser tab will open for the shopper database, www.sassieshop.com. You select your language and click “GO”.
- The screen will refresh and then you enter your email address and click “GO”. NOTE: Use the same email address you use for PayPal.
- After the screen refresh, you select your country and then click “GO”
- Now fill out your profile and also the extended shopper profile – the extended profile helps you get more targeted shopping missions
- Download the GeoVerify app on your smartphone (and confirm within the shopper site that you have) as this is used to prove you were at the right location and performed the missions yourself
Shopping Missions
- Now you can view the job board and start applying for missions
- Most shops require you to specify the date on which you intend to perform the shop when you apply
- After you’ve chosen your date and clicked “Apply for this Shop” you must wait. You cannot perform the shop until your assignment has been confirmed (the shop could still be given to someone else).
- You’ll receive an email that your application has been accepted and then you must confirm you will do the shop
- Only after you’ve confirmed (within the shopper site) can you proceed with the mission
