Are you looking for a small mystery shopping community? Lanla mystery shopping is a boutique company. Do you want to use your language skills? Lanla is focused primarily in the Québec region. They have a lot of missions available in French. Keep reading to learn more.
Service provider company:
Lanla
www.lanla.com
Lanla was founded in 2002. They have their headquarters in Montréal, Québec. They are a market research company which specialises in measuring and managing the customer experience.
Their shopping missions include the retail industry, transportation (mass transit), restaurants, and commercial residences (senior living). They also have surveys and phone shops.
Lanla provides services across Canada. However, there is a big focus in the Québec area. And they have a lot of shops available in French.
Mystery Shopping Professionals Association (MSPA):
Lanla is not a member of the MSPA.
Better Business Bureau (BBB):
There is no listing of Lanla with the Better Business Bureau.
Pay range:
Lanla mystery shopping pays in the range of $10.00 CAD to $30.00 CAD. They also have shops that do not offer pay but your expenses are reimbursed. For example, some restaurant shopping missions.
Payment method:
Lanla only pays through Direct Deposit. That means you must provide your banking details. We understand if you’re uncomfortable with that. We are too.
But if you’re interested in trying mystery shopping with Lanla, we recommend performing a couple of shops first. When you’re comfortable with how they do business, then you can commit with your banking information.
Unfortunately, we have not performed any shops for Lanla so we cannot confirm their payment processing.
Payment frequency:
Lanla pays in the month after you performed the shop. Any shops you’ve completed by the end of the month will be paid during the first week of the following month.
As an example, if you performed shops in September, then you’ll be paid in the first week of October. That’s actually a pretty good cycle. And better than most of the industry which makes you wait until the end of the following month.
Report submission:
Lanla does not have a particular schedule for report submissions. The reporting timeline is variable.
Each particular shopping mission will include the reporting deadline.
Website usability:
Lanla provides their own mystery shopping user platform. The site has a decent interface for finding shops, applying, and tracking them.
The available missions are pinned on a map view that you can control. Zoom in, zoom out, move the map, etc. So you can also move to view other cities if you choose.
But the platform is fairly basic when it comes to reporting. You’ll need to be prepared to submit your reporting by email, if necessary. And this could apply to your documentation as well. Things like receipts and photos.
Social media:
We were unable to find any social media presence for Lanla at all.
Shopping mission availability:
Lanla mystery shopping is more of a boutique company. They build relationships with a core group of companies and focus on a full-service approach for them.
This approach does limit the opportunities for mystery shoppers. You would definitely want to register with multiple mystery shopping service providers.
Shopper support:
Lanla is actually very clear with their support information. They provide three different methods of contact on their website:
- Telephone – they list both a local phone number and a toll-free number
- Email – there’s also an email clearly listed
- Contact form – they provide you with a contact form to submit questions

Recommendation:
Lanla focuses their business on a small group of companies. Our experience:
- Shopping mission availability – there are not a lot of missions posted, especially if you’re outside of Québec
- Shopper support – there are many ways to contact support and they’re all clearly listed on the website
- Pay range – the pay is within the industry average
- Payment method – the only option is direct deposit so you have to be willing to share your banking information
- Report submission – you have to check each shopping mission to figure out the report deadline. And the shopper website is not very advanced, you may need to forward some reporting documentation via email instead.
